Tirupati trip
this was a sudden decision to go to tirupati and an even more spontaneous decision to walk all the way…the trip was amazing…..
left bangalore by 8 am on wednesday cos the bus was late by 15 mins….and i promptly dozed off…to be woken up somewhere for lunch…since i hadnt had my breakfast i sat down for a major lunch innings..andhra full meals….it was like test match….we managed to reach tirupati by 1 30…and almost immediately we boarded bus to alepiri to start the climb….we started the climb by 2pm at alepiri and me and dad started outpacing mom and her colleague…the total was 3665 steps and 9kms and me was hauling the 6-8kg backpack i had bought in singapore….the initial 1000 steps were the hardest..we started off with gusto to realize that this climb was going to be hard…we took breaks every 60- 80 steps..had lots of juice and stuff..goli soda at lotsa places…enjoyed…somewhere close to 2000 steps we reached gali gopura where we got the ticket for pedestrian pilgrims and then continued….me and dad made good time…somewhere close to the final 500 steps started cramps in legs after which we took time out for relaxing and had an extended break….last 500 were the toughest…somehow we managed it and the total climb took us 4 hours to complete…we went to pushpagiri math where we had taken a room, freshened up and headed off to Woodside hotel for chow…we initially confused woodside with an impostor hotel but then we got the actual place and again had a gr8 dinner after which we stood in the queue by 8 pm and after an awsme darshan which we managed to complete by 10 pm….headed back to room by 11ish and straight to sleep
Thursday: mom and her colleague headed for another darshan and i headed off to get my head tonsured / shaved…initially i was skeptical of getting it done..then i just went ahead..got it done..had a gr8 bath and then breakfast of 4 vadas and masala dosa…meanwhile took a cap as well..hehehe…took a bus to tirupati and then gopalaraja swamy temple visit from 12 to 130….took the return volvo by 2 15..again 15 mins late..me and dad had an awsme convo abt life and rat race…and now home at 9 pm followed by polishing off 3 jowar rotis and few side dishes….:)…sleep in few mins after some catching up with frens…till next post
